M C, age 42, Gateshead

Acupuncture has been practised for thousands of years as an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture is safe and effective; it can used to help people of all ages, with a wide range of illnesses.

Wendy is experienced in working with people with a wide range of conditions and has particular interest in:

  • Fertility and IVF
  • Pregnancy and pre-birth treatments
  • Menstrual problems
  • Peri-menopausal and menopausal symptoms
  • Muscular-skeletal problems and pain management
  • Skin/Dermatology
  • Support for people with cancer
  • Mental health, anxiety, depression
  • Addictions

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can sometimes help illnesses that modern medicine has difficulty treating. Not only can it relieve symptoms such as pain, bloating, tiredness, menstrual and reproductive problems, hot flushes, palpitations and sleeplessness, it can improve the functioning of the immune system, regulate organ function and create an enhanced sense of happiness and well-being. Doctors and health professionals increasingly recognise the validity of acupuncture.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) published a review of acupuncture clinical trials in 2002 and identified a considerable list of conditions that can treated by acupuncture.

Consultation and treatment

At the first consultation a full history of your condition is taken to determine your Chinese diagnosis. This then informs your individual treatment plan. The number and frequency of treatments will depend on individual circumstance.

Single-use disposable needles are used. They are inserted at key locations. You will usually feel a mild ache or tingle when needles are inserted. They are left in place for 20 minutes or so. It is advisable to wear loose clothing to enable easy access to arms and legs.

Wendy is a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and complies with the BAcC codes of practice and ethics.

Initial consultation and treatment £68

On occasion, a teleconsultation may be required prior to the in-person initial consultation and treatment.

Moxa and cupping

Moxa and/or cupping may be used as adjunct therapies to acupuncture.

MOXA is a herb that is burnt directly over a point or over the pathway of meridians to promote circulation and bring warmth into the body.

Evidence shows it can also help turn breach babies.

CUPPING is the placing of vacuum or warm cups on the surface of the skin to relax muscles, reduce inflammation and promote circulation.
